The 9 best video game stories ever
The 9 best scenarios in the history of video games will give you unforgettable moments.
We all like to experience strong emotions, whether it’s a series, a movie, or a video game. The story of work can offer magnificent moments that will remain engraved in us forever.
It can also captivate us from start to finish, even if some aspects of the video game are not so great. JRPGs often have exciting stories, but they are far from being the only ones. We have selected for you the 9 best scenarios in the history of video games.
What is the greatest video game story of all time?
We can imagine that this top will be talked about. The opportunity to remind you that this list is subjective, like any ranking or video game test you will find on the Internet. Nevertheless, we think that some of the games we have selected should be unanimous.
Let’s hope we’ll have to update this ranking in the next few weeks to add a potential Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, or any other game that deserves it. In the meantime, check out our top 9 best scenarios in the history of video games.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
In addition to offering exciting battles, The Witcher 3 also offers a very deep story, which will take you on a journey for hours with Geralt of Riv. Even if the scenario takes a little time to really get going, its richness will captivate you, as will its characters, Geralt, Vesemir, and Ciri in particular.
Life is Strange
It’s impossible to forget the epic journey with Max and Chloe. The first Life is Strange has an indescribable charm and a story that is almost impossible to get out of. Thanks to its colorful characters and its perfectly paced storyline (despite the last quarter of episode 5 being a bit more laborious), Life is Strange will remain engraved in the memory of players for a long time.
Mass Effect
The first Mass Effect is an exciting game from start to finish if you’re not afraid of dialogue. It’s impossible not to become attached to the multitude of characters, all of whom are given incredible care.
Heavy Rain
A true interactive thriller, the story of Heavy Rain manages to perfectly capture the player from the first to the last minute, until it turns his brain with an incredible twist.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
The opuses of the cult saga created by Hideo Kojima all offer exciting scenarios. Except for Metal Gear Survive, which is one of the most hated games of all time, of course. But Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, for us, is slightly above the fray. Not least because of The Boss, one of the best-written characters in video game history. The scenario, which seems to be more intimate at first, takes on a political scope like never before in the saga.
Final Fantasy X
We know, some of you will wonder why Final Fantasy X and not another one. The occasion to remind that this ranking is subjective, like the one of the best Final Fantasy. But according to us, FF X offers the most exciting story of the saga and one of the best of the video game. Not only for its magnificent finale but also for the journey that proposed the evolution of the relationship between Tidus and Yuna and the serious tone that emerges from the story in general.
Judgment
Yakuza had already accustomed us to breathtaking scenarios. The spin-off of the saga, Judgment, does even better. The police investigation in the heart of Japan as Takayuki Yamagi, one of the most intelligent characters in the video game, is absolutely thrilling. The twists and turns follow one another and once you are immersed in the story, you will only want to find out what is behind the murders in Kamurocho.
Xenogears
Unfortunately, Xenogears is not as popular as the other games in this ranking. But it really deserves to be as well known, or even a remaster. Because never a JRPG had such a mature and well-constructed story, sometimes philosophical, sometimes psychological, far from what you can expect in a game of this kind. And even in a video game. Legendary.
Silent Hill 2
This is the big winner of our ranking. Never before has a video game offered such a deep and well-written scenario. It’s hard to imagine what awaits us when we head to Silent Hill in the shoes of James Sunderland, who has received a letter from his dead wife asking him to find her in the town. And yet. Here is the player embarked on a tormented adventure, intriguing and with an incredible final twist.
